A day at the Norfolk Broads!

Canoeing and kayaking

I recently went canoeing and kayaking with some friends at Wayford Bridge boat and canoe hire. For the 8 years I have lived in this area I had never done this and its only a mile down the road. I will definitely be going more often.
Having a break!

We went down a part of the river where motorized boats weren't allowed so it was so quiet and peaceful!
We had about 3 hours on the river and then headed to my family's mooring for a picnic!

I recommend going down to Wayford boat and canoe hire if you want to get active with your friends or family this summer!

My family's boat
Many years ago my Grandad bought a green boat... which are meant to be unlucky for some reason.

He passed it down to my mum a few years ago. She's called Cara.

Cara
I know she's small and doesn't match up to the one behind but does the job for a day trip!
There are so many memories with this boat. Either filmed on video camera or taken with a non digital camera.

Recently my mum has looked at another boat as she and her partner are finding it difficult to have to crouch inside all the time. So she came up with the idea to sell it...I didn't exactly warm up to the idea so me and my two brothers have decided they we will pay the tax, MOT and insurance until the time ever comes to say goodbye to Cara... which isn't yet :P.

I love having somewhere to go just to chill out and clear my mind. This is the perfect place.

Sharing my driving test experience with you...

On the 10th of July 2014 I had my first driving test and thankfully my last!

That night before I got a little nervous. However, I had a bad dream that I was late for test my test so it didn't go ahead!... Good start :')

When I woke up on the day of my driving test I was so nervous but excited at the same time, I could hardly eat any breakfast. My test was in the morning at a very specific time at 11:11am. I liked that though as my friend Georgia from college told me that at 11:11 of each day you can make a wish... I hope she prayed for me :P. Also having your test in the morning means that you don't have to wait with nerves until the afternoon.

My instructor arrived at my house to come pick me up at about 10am to give time to set up all my mirrors for the manoeuvres. I drove around norwich for an hour practicing the things that might take the pass certificate away from me!

Once that was over with we sat in a car park and went over the questions that you are asked before the practical part of the test begins. At that point it was 11am so I drove over to the test center and we walked in.

Some of you may not of knew this but the 10th of July was the day of the strike for many people like teachers, fire men and unfortunately the driving examiners.
I got an email a week before my test saying there is a strike on the day of your test which could not guarantee I would get my test. This stressed me out even more. Luckily though, Norwich don't go on strike massively so my test commenced! Happy days!

My driving examiner: Finding out at the end of my test, my examiner hadn't examined drivers in 3 years... He was called in to help out as some people had been on strike, he didn't know until half 9 that morning and didn't even know there was a strike! He normally examiners motorcyclists.

Moving on...

At the beginning of my test I had to read a number plate on a car to make sure I could see far enough in front of me to be able to take the test! It was a success!

Next I had the questions. The first one I got was about the brake fluid and how I checked it which was simple and my second was "where is the horn on the car?"So easy! Make sure you do revise the questions though so you know evpvery answer!

Once that was over and done with I set off!
Now, I got only got 1 minor on my test which I was extremely surprised but happy about! This happened quite near the start on a double mini round about. It was so much busier than it normally was. There was three exits and I was trying to go out of the first exit. Took a little while as the blockers from the road I wanted to go in we're coming out very fast so I didn't have time to go as the cars on y right would then suddenly pop out as well. So at one point I was going to go, (this is where my minor comes in) as I was going to the blocker car went so quick that the car on my right was pulling out so I knew I couldn't go and pushed on the brake! The minor was for observation as I didn't watch carefully enough! I finally got through them both and carried on!

My test route went through norwich city center... Brilliant! Though luck early it wasn't too packed and I got through will ease!

My manoeuvre: I had parralell parking. My worst one. This is the one that took me the longest to get the hang of. Though, in my test I did it so well, probably better than I have before. Most likely because I was concentrating so much! I was so happy!

I had to go through the hartseys round about which has five exits! I really did not like this round about as it's always so busy! However I was in luck! When I pulled up to it nothing was coming round it and there was nothing on my right so off I went... I was dreading getting this round about but it seems it had a soft spot for me that day :D

To get back to the test center I went down the dual carridge way. I find that easy so it wasn't a problem at all!

Once we got to the entrance of the test center the examiner just asked me to drive straight in to a parking bay. In my head I was like oh crap!! I know this sounds silly but I had never driven in to a bay frontwards, I had always done reversing as that's another manoeuvre. Strangly I asked if I could
reverse in but he said "I wouldn't risk it if I were you, but I'm sure you can do"... I thought I'd be risking it if I drove forward... Which I did do... Perfectly fine... I was stressing over nothing haha!

I had finished my test! PASSED with only 1 minor! So proud of myself and I was buzzing at the same time!

My instructor drove me home. That was the end of having driving lessons on a Sunday! A little saddening but then again I could drive!!

A year ago since prom...

It's a year ago or so since I had my prom.
I remember the feeling the night before. So excited.

I hade both my best ones come over to get ready with me! I remember getting myself all pampered, nails done and trying to fir guard out how I wanted my hair! Took me longer than I had anticipated...

I bought my dress from Jane Norman for only £30, I didn't want to splash on something that looks just like something cheaper! I got this dress months and months before prom! It was just the right dress for me. All through the year until prom came I sneakily kept trying it on to make sure it still fitted  but when the time got closer my best friends mum had to make it smaller! She did it so well!

The evening of prom came. Had my besties with me, getting ready for a night that we will never forget for the rest of our lives!

Once we got to the venue there was already a lot of people there! It looked amazing with everyone in their suits and dresses!

Lots of photos were taken throughout the night which I will keep for the rest of my life!

That was the last night I have seen many people for over a year now! Strange really! Being so used to spending most days and then having to start somewhere new without everyone was quite over whelming!

The fun part at the end of the night is that the whole year got a coach back to school!

For those who have prom coming up, make it a night to remember! Make the most of seeing your school mates while you can!

Have fun at prom ex year 11s!  (your almost students:P)
